Sundance Documentary Fund
Dedicated to supporting U.S. and international documentary films and videos focused on current and significant issues and movements in contemporary human rights, freedom of expression, social justice, and civil liberties. In supporting independent vision and creative, compelling stories, the Sundance Documentary Fund hopes to give voice to the diverse exchange of ideas crucial to developing an open society, raise public consciousness about human rights abuses and restrictions of civil liberties, and engage citizens in a lively, ongoing debate about these issues. Visit the International Programmes section of the Sundance website: www.sundance.org.
The Media Programme
Support for creative documentary projects for film or TV which promote the use of new technology in their production and distribution. Independent production companies based in the EU or EEA and owned by nationals of those countries can apply. For more information visit the media desk in your country - contact details on this list at: http://europa.eu.int/comm/avpolicy/media/desk_en.html
Collaborations, networks and interesting projects
European Documentary Network
EDN supports, stimulates and networks within the sector in Europe. One major focus has been to inform the members about possibilities for co-production and other kind of collaboration across the borders. This is done through individual service to members, including consultancy on film projects and through workshops and conferences.
Documentary producers, directors, distributors, festival organisers, television commissioning editors, film institute consultants, television channels and film funds... more than 600 have joined EDN to share their common interest and professional concern for the documentary genre. For more information visit: http://www.edn.dk/index00.html
The Internet Archive
The Internet Archive is collaborating with various collectors, community members, and film-makers to provide easy access to a rich and fascinating core collection of archival films by digitising movies and putting them online. By providing near-unrestricted access to these films, we hope to encourage widespread use of moving images in new contexts by people who might not have used them before.

Collaborative online documentaries and discussion forum
The D-Word Community is a private, online discussion forum for documentary professionals. We are a few hundred folks from all over the world who are sharing our hard-won wisdom and taking part in passionate, thoughtful, fun conversations.
As an outgrowth of the discussions, members of The D-Word Community have produced two collaborative film projects, Essays on Documentary, a collection of eight short films that explore the art and meaning of non-fiction filmmaking today, and War & Peace, a response to September 11 and its consequences. The projects can be viewed online, and we invite you to interact with the filmmakers at The D-Word Forum. For more information visit: http://www.d-word.com/community/index.html
