MUNDO - WORK TRAINING

The Mundo project offers students broad-based media training during which they will work within various media, in television, radio, and newspapers and will create services on the Internet.

The actual Mundo courses began in August 2005. The training at Stadia was commenced during the orientation stage (16. – 26.8.2005), during which the students were provided with individual study plans. After this phase, studies have continued according to tailor-made study plans as of the beginning of September 2005. Mundo students will graduate in Spring 2007.

WORK TRAINING AT SIXDEGREE

Over the course of radio and newspaper work training, the students familiarise themselves with the various stages and tasks of editorial office work.

At the SixDegrees paper they specialise in, for instance, photography, or the writing of
articles. During the work placements phase of the studies, the students also familiarise themselves with the production of internet pages and with radio journalism. During this phase of the project the students will produce at least one radio programme.

The first students in work training at SixDegree were Davide Pavone and Juliana Elo. The second group, Pia Barclay and Fernando Colombo, started work training at 25. October. The third group, Kieng Vou and Benjam Åkerlund, started their work training at SixDegree at 9.1.2006. Kieng Vou continued her work training during the fourth season. Wenndell Allysson Coelho and Pedro Beltrán Herrera did their work training period in SixDegrees during summer.

Elihú Galván and Shukri Omar are doing their work training period in SixDegrees during the second period of Autumn 2006. It started October 24th.


WORK TRAINING AT MUNDO-BASAARI

During the TV phase work training, the students will be introduced to the production of short documentaries at the Basaari Mundo editorial department. They will broaden their skills in camera and audio apparatus usage and will learn to use editing equipment.

In addition to technical skills, the various stages of the work process are refined during the work training. These stages include: the planning of the subject, the formulation of a script, the booking of a cameraman, procuring
permits for filming locations, editing, the organization of necessary translations and the handling of criticism.

Each student will prepare one short documentary per week.

The first students in work training at Mundo-Basaari were Mohamed El Aboudi, Tonislav Hristov and Thu Nga Vu-Lilja. The second group, Samuel Abaijón-Nurmisuo, Victor Belousov and Gustavo Alavedra, started work training at 24. October. The third group, Carolina Bermúdez Parra, Nadezda Pojasnik, Elihú Galván ja Fernando Colombo, started work training
at 9.1.2006. The last group of Spring 2006, Tahir Aliyev, Maria Friman and Carlos Marroquin, started work training at 13.3.2006. Nadezda Pojasnik continues her work training as a cameraman during the fourth season.

Mohamed El Aboudi, Carolina Bermúdez Parra and Anna Kulicka-Soisalon-Soininen were the first ones to take part in the work training period during Autumn 2006. Second period started October 24th with Victor Belousov, Gustavo Alavedra and Thu Nga Vu-Lilja.



PRACTICAL TRAINING PERIODS AND WORK TRAININGS ELSEWHERE

Davide Pavone started his work training as a photographer in Crea Video during March 2006. Shukri Omar started her work training as a reporter and radio speaker in Kansan Sivistystyön Liitto KSL in March 2006.

Carlos Marroquin and Wenndell Allysson Coelho finished their practical training period in YLE Viihde during November and December 2005. Tiina Madisson finished her work training period in Frame Graphics Oy in March 2006.
