SHUKRI OMAR AHMED (b. 1975)
 Shukri is from Somalia and lived in Finland since 1993.
After graduating as a practical nurse in 2000, Shukri has worked, for example, in a multicultural day centre and in the Ministry of Labour’s Etno-group. She has also written articles for publications and presented and produced radio programmes.
Shukri has directed one documentary for YLE TV1’s Ykkösdokumentti series, as well as short inserts and two documentaries for YLE TV1’s Basaari series. She has also participated in numerous other documentary projects as a performer, scriptwriter or director. In 2005 she received an award from the Finland-Somalia Association for her work.
Shukri is especially interested in directing and also wants to improve her skills as a scriptwriter.
