TEACHING IN HELSINKI POLYTECHNIC STADIA




The teaching aims of the course will be to provide students with basic technical and production skills in different areas of audiovisual and other media production. Students will also increase their experience in professional and cultural skills and practice.

Teaching of professional skills and practice will also include the history and culture of the media, applied media analysis, communications in society and media literacy. The course will also familiarise students with communications legislation and regulations. The course will focus on the education of planning, production and development tasks in television, radio, network communications, sound engineering, media education and production companies.

Individually tailored
training for students includes for example visual communication, filming and lighting, sound recording and editing, video editing, multimedia and network communication, audiovisual journalism and practice, project management, planning, organisation, regulations and contractual agreements.

Individual training
will address participant’s need to develop adequate professional and educational learning levels considering his/her earlier education and experience from the media field.

The teaching programme will be delivered by a combination of lectures, literature, individual and group exercises, research assignments, project work and workshops. Individual learning programmes for students may include their own individual media production projects as part of their learning.

The duration of the course is 2 years, after which it is possible to pass a competence test of "Further Qualification in Audiovisual Communication" or "Specialist Qualification in Audiovisual Communication" in Spring 2007.

The training period corresponds to approximately 40 course credits. The course takes place from Spring 2005 to Spring 2007 and will be taught in the Finnish language.
