On harvoja elokuva,dokumentteja, tv-ohjelmia, jotka haluaisin nähdä uudestaan. Teeman aikoinaan esittämä Pervertikon ohjaus elokuvaan, osat 1,2 ja 3 kuuluvat niihin. Tue Steen Müller kirjoittaa ansiokkaasti tästä uudestaan ja uudestaan uusinnan ansaitsevasta tuotannosta.

The Pervert’s Guide to Cinema 1,2,3... presented by Slavoj Zizek, Slovenian philosopher and psychoanalyst, is simply a gift to all film teachers. In three parts Zizek takes us on a Freudian, but not only, trip through wonderful clips that he comments on from his point of view, turning everything upside down, in a very demanding and inspiring lecture, full of humour with the lecturer ”placed” by the director Sophie Fiennes on a boat near the location of Hitchcock’s ”The Birds”, in the house where ”Psycho” was shot, in the bathroom that Gene Hackmann was in when ”The Conversation" by Coppola was shot and so on.

Indispensable in film teaching and for film lovers in general, because this dvd is so well constructed: It goes in three parts that you can run separately, and within these parts you can find a chapter that will be useful or joyful, or both, for you.

And it is so full of clips from the ones mentioned above, but also David Lynch, Tarkovsky, Bergman, von Trier, Marx Brothers and the one who is better than the rest of them: Charlie Chaplin. Zizek loves films and he really can tell us what he thinks. Buy it!

Varsovassa on pian monta suomalaista ohjaajaa. INPUT kutsuu paikalle monia ylesta. Nopeasti tunnetuksi tullut Doc Planete on puolestaan Kansakunnan olohuone-dokumenttielokuvan ensi-iltapaikka ulkomailla.

For the 6th time this international documentary film festival takes place in Warsaw at the Kinoteka. The programme is overwhelming in volume AND quality. No wonder that the festival two days ago received The Main Award at the Polish Film Institute Awards in the category International Film Event.

Take a look at the website of the festival that starts on the 8th of May and goes on until the 17th. And not only in Warsaw as the festival announces a ”Digital Weekend” of the festival (May 8-10) with proud and enthusiastic words like these:

The festival will be hitting 22 cinemas across Poland! Modern technology is opening up a panorama of possibilities. A whole new community is in the making – community in which films not only enrich our sensory perceptions, but make us feel at home in the global village and offer a glimpse into the complexity of the world around us. For the first time in Poland, and perhaps even the world, people will be able to come to a festival that is not confined to any one place, but staged right across the country. People will be able to view 10 of the films at this year's Planete Doc Review festival in any one of 22 cinemas at the same time before casting their votes for the winner of the Arthouse Cinemas Award. Tampereella palkittiin

Tampereella oli pitkissä dokumenteissa kova taso, olivathan mukana myös mm. John Websterin ja Peter von Baghin erinomaiset työt. Pitkien dokumenttien pääpalkinnon voitti Tampereella Annika Grofin LIIKKUMAVARA,joka esitetään uusintana syyskuussa. Tuomaristo perusteli päätöstään seuraavasti:

Festivaalin informatiivisin ja koskettavin elokuva. Elokuvan aihe voi tuntua monista ikävystyttävältä, mutta lopputulos on intensiivinen ja intohimoinen tutkielma surullisen ontuvasta demokratiasta. Elokuva ei ole neutraali – ei edes puoluepoliittisesti – mutta osoittaa siitä huolimatta todellista empatiaa ja kunnioitusta kaikkia mukana olevia poliitikkoja kohtaan. Kameratyöskentely on erinomaista: taidokkaiden muotokuvamaalausten tavoin se tekee ihmisten kasvoilla näkyviksi paljon sanojen tavoittamattomiin jäävää. Elokuva on myös leikattu hienosti: oletettavasti hengästyttävästä määrästä kuvamateriaalia on taidokkaasti poimittu ja yhdistetty tärkeimmät palaset

Erikoispalkinnon tuomaristo antoi Jukka Kärkkäisen ohjaamalle Kansakunnan olohuoneelle, joka esitetään Dokumenttiprojektissa joulukuussa. Tuomariston suositus saisi melko varmaan karvat nousemaan pystyy ulkoministeri Stubbilta,

Unohtakaa Nokia ja innovaatiotalous! Tuomaristo vaatii täten, että tätä elokuvaa käytetään jatkossa Suomi-brändin pääasiallisena markkinointivälineenä. Elokuvassa esiintyviltä henkilöiltä on vaadittu mahtavaa huumorintajua sekä täydellistä luottamusta ohjaajaa kohtaan, jotta elokuvan armoton rehellisyys on ollut mahdollista. Elokuvassa on vahva sosiopoliittinen näkökulma, mutta se kantaa myös pidemmälle sisältäen melankolista pohdintaa elämästä nyky-yhteiskunnassa ylipäätään.
Ensi alkuun elokuvassa esiintyvät henkilöt voivat vaikuttaa hupaisalta kummajaisparaatilta, mutta loppujen lopuksi heidän elämäntilanteensa ja huolensa osoittautuvat samoiksi kuin meidänkin – ja pitkälti samoiksi kuin henkilöhahmojen elämäntilanteet ja huolet vaikkapa Samuel Beckettin tuotannossa

Ai, miksi Stubbilta nousisi karvat pystyyn_ Sen verran vahvoja omaperäisenä nähty suomalaiselokuva on maailmalla jo herättänyt. Se on valittu kyllä jo kovatasoisen Varsovan Planete festivaalin kilpailusarjaan, mutta DocPointissa vieraillut Peter Wintonick antoi elokuvalle uuden nimen: Dead Men Talking. Tunnetun Nyonin festivaalin johtaja Jean Perret puolestaan soitteli muutama päivä sitten tuskaillen, valitako elokuva kilpailusarjaan vai ei. Sen verran ristiriitaisia tuntemuksia se hänessäkin nostatti.
