Jalanan intimately portrays the lives of Boni, Ho and Titi - three gifted yet marginalized Jakarta bus musicians and paints a striking portrait of Indonesia's frenzied capital city that is raw, humorous and brutally honest. Jalanan accompanies the characters as they play commuter buses, debate politics, flee their slum during a monsoon flood and get arrested by police. The story of an elusive quest for identity, legitimacy and love in a huge, oppressive, globalizing city.
