CHELSEA FC – ARSENAL FC
Aika nuhjaamista, muutama kohtuullinen veto ja siinä ne sitten olikin.
Marco Ambrosio Kaksoset-Puhveli 187cm Brescia. Chelsea signed Italian goalkeeper Ambrosio on a Bosman free transfer in June 2003, to join the club on July 1, after being recommended by Chelsea's goalkeeping coach, Giorgio Pellizzaro. Ambrosio, signed after the decision to release Ed de Goey at the end of his contract, was the Verona side's second choice stopper. He was signed, along with Sunderland's Austrian goalkeeper Jurgen Macho, to provide competition for number one Carlo Cudicini. The 'keeper began his career with Serie C1/A side Prato 1994, before moving on to Ravenna a year later. His chance in the big time came in 1997 when he was snapped up by Sampdoria, but he would play only 11 games in three season before dropping back down to Serie C1/A with Luchesse. He would play 33 games in a successful season with the club. Ambrosio was again given his chance in Serie A in 2001 when he joined surprise package Chievo Verona as their back-up goalkeeper to Christiano Lupatelli, signing a two-year contract.He enjoyed an run in the side when Lupatelli was ruled out for the season in April 2003, but still left the club when his contract expired at the end of the campaign, bound for the Premiership. Jens Lehmann Skorpioni-Kukko 190cm 86kg Essen. Jens has established himself as Arsenal's No 1 after his summer move from Borussia Dortmund. He was an ever-present in the early part of the season and has adapted quickly to the demands of the Premiership. The German saved a penalty from Ruud van Nistelrooy of Manchester United in the Community Shield and also thwarted Tottenham's Helder Postiga at Highbury. Now 34, he has been capped 16 times for Germany. Eidur Gudjohnsen Neitsyt-Hevonen 183cm Reykjavik. The Icelandic international was one of the best players in the First Division in 1999/2000 as he played a big part in Bolton Wanderers' push to the semi-finals of both the Worthington and FA Cup.Big and skillful, he can be a nightmare to defenders with his fine link-up play and eye for the through ball. He is also not shy in front of goal. Formerly Ronaldo's strike partner at PSV Eindhoven, the Icelander overcame serious injury and fought against a weight problem to become one of the hottest properties in British football. It appeared only a matter of time before a big club would come in for Gudjohnsen, and in the summer of 2000 Chelsea paid £5million for his services. Had a tough first season at Stamford Bridge as he struggled to win a starting place ahead of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Gianfranco Zola. Still managed to net 13 goals for the club, mainly from the bench. It was the following season, 2001/02, that Gudjohsen really began to set the Premiership alight. His partnership with Hasselbaink became Chelsea legend as they blew away a number of Premiership defences. The Icelandic international scored 23 goals that season for Chelsea, and he would pick up an FA Cup runners-up medal after defeat to Arsenal at the Millennium Stadium. Also picked up a Charity Shield winners' medal on his debut in 2000. However, speculation grew that he, along with Hasselbaink, was available for transfer in the summer of 2002. Claude Makélélé Vesimies-Puhveli 169cm 65kg Makelele joined Chelsea from Real Madrid for an undisclosed fee, around £16.6million, on transfer deadline day in September 2003. It ended a battle to get the French international to Stamford Bridge after he had become disillusioned with life at the Bernabeau. Despite being one of their most important players, he earned just a fraction of the likes of Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldo. That led to Makelele refusing to train in order to win his desired transfer to Chelsea. But the Blues would not enter into talks while he held Real to ransom - and the deal looked dead. But, right at the death, the deal went through with Makelele penning a four-year contract. The Congo-born player moved to Epinay-sous-Sinart, France, with family in 1977. He began his career in France with Brest in 1990 before signing for Nantes in 1992. Makelele enjoyed five successful seasons with Nantes - in which the club reached the semi-finals of the Champions League and won the French title. He also earned his France debut in a 0-0 against Norway in July 1995. In 1997, he moved to Marseille before Celta Vigo paid £1.7million for him in the summer of 1998. But Makelele missed out on the France squad for the 1998 World Cup. Real Madrid then moved in for him two years later, sealing a £9million deal, and he enjoyed a glittering spell with the club. Just like the Chelsea deal, the move had a hint of controversy. He pushed for a transfer, refusing to train until he was allowed to move to Valencia. Real joined the bidding and he moved to the Spanish capital instead, signing a six-year contract. But he was again overlooked by France for a major tournament, left out of the Euro 2000 squad. Makelele soon became a rock in the centre of the park for Real. Without him they were a different side as his presence gave balance to a side filled with attacking talent. Signed for £4.6million from AC Milan before the 1998 World Cup and after his man of the tournament performances that looked a bargain. Can play as a central defender and midfielder. He is good in the air, a hard tackler, pacy and strong. Won the European Cup in consecutive years with Marseille (1993) and AC Milan (1994). Has also played in France for Nantes. Made his Chelsea debut in a 2-1 defeat at Coventry City. Picked up an FA Cup winner's medal with the Blues in 2000, along with a runners-up medal two years later. Admitted in the summer of 2002 that he had not always been at his best during his time at Stamford Bridge, but was eager to put that right. By this time he had played 164 games for the Blues, scoring five goals. He is, of course, a World and European champion with France. Skipper of club and country. Was part of the France squad that had a disastrous 2002 World Cup, going out in the group stage with one point and no goals. Played all three games. No tota en kyllä tajua että pitää copypasteta jotain hirveän kokoisia pätkiä joltain uefan tai vastaavan sivuilta.
Lätkä puolella näyttivät rajoittuvan sentään muutamaan hassuun rivilliseen.
