EU-maiden pohjoispuolen ihmisistä 500.000 ovat ostaneet toisen kodin jostakin muusta EU-maasta. Tästä joukosta puolet on saksalaisia. Tämäniltainen Epävirallisia tarinoita -sarjan ohjelma Rahalla saa näyttää esimerkkejä Ruotsista ja Portugalista.
Ruotsalainen Erling on myynyt saksalaisille yli 500 asuntoa eteläruotsalaisesta Emmebodan kaupungista. Saksalaiset ovat suosittuja paikallisten keskuudessa siisteytensä ja hyvien tapojensa vuoksi. Lisäksi saksalaiset haluavat innokkaasti oppia uuden maan tavoille. Se käy hyvin esimerkiksi Erlingin järjestämillä rapujuhlilla.
Portugalissa saksalainen Angela ostaa vanhoja maatiloja myydäkseen ne maanmiehilleen. Portugalilaiset eivät haluaisi myydä, mutta vaihtoehdot ovat vähissä, jos he haluavat muuttaa helpompiin oloihin.
Yksi heistä on Delphina. Toisin kuin ruotsalaiset kohtalotoverinsa hän tuntee itsensä toisen luokan kansalaiseksi, jolta rikkaat pohjoiseurooppalaiset kaappaavat maan halvalla. Silti tunnelma portugalilaisilla barbeque-juhlilla on lämmin.

500,000 citizens from the northern half of the EU have bought second homes in other parts of the EU. Half of them are German. Erling is a Swedish estate agent who has sold more than 500 homes in the southern town of Emmaboda to Germans in the last 20 years. His clients dream of the good life and ct retirement home. They are popular with the locals who appreciate German tidiness, good manners and interest in their culture and language. In Portugal Angela, a German buys and sells old farmhouses in the Alentejo region of Portugal to fellow Germans. Portuguese vendors would rather not sell, with the depopulation of the countryside, there is little choice if they want to move into more comfortable premises. One such person is Delphina who lives for a time in a part of the house with the new German owners. Unlike their Swedish counterparts Delphina's family feel like second class and impoverished citizens whose land is being bought cheaply by rich Europeans from the north.
