Nämä sanat johtotähtenään saksalaiset suuryhtiöt käyttivät kolmannen valtakunnan aikaan 10 miljoonaa ihmistä orjatyövoimanaan. Monet näistä yrityksistä ovat selvinneet menneisyydestä maksamatta kenellekään mitään.
Rudy Kennedy oli yksi orjista. Hän oli viidentoista, kun hän menetti perheensä Auschwitzissä ja siirrettiin Hitlerin maanalaiseen rakettivalmistamoon. Työn sijasta brittiläisarmeija vapautti työläiset.
Kului puoli vuosisataa, ihmisikä, kun Auschwitzin vapautumisen vuosipäivänä tammikuussa 1995 Rudy huomasi kertovansa lapsilleen omasta selviytymisestään. Samalla hänet napattiin uutislähetykseen kertomaan menneistä ja sitä myöten Rudystä tuli kaikkien vielä hengissä olevien orjatyöläisten puhemies.
Miehen matka on johtanut hänet oikeustaisteluun maailmanlaajuisia saksalaisyrityksiä ja pankkeja vastaan. Rudy perää korvauksia mm. Volkswagenilta, Siemensiltä, Bayerilta, BASFilta ja Saksan hallitukselta, jotka kaikki käyttivät juutalaisia orjatyövoimanaan.
Yli neljän vuoden aikana kuvattu dokumentti Rudy Kennedy - orjatyöläinen (I Was a Slave Labourer) seuraa Rudyä Israeliin, USAan, Ranskaan, Saksaan, Italiaan … Taistelullaan Rudy haluaa kunnioittaa murhattua perhettään, oikaista historian väärät tiedot ja saada edes virallisen anteeksipyynnön kaikkien orjatyöläisten puolesta.

I WAS A SLAVE LABOURER
I Was a Slave Labourer was shot over a three year period and documents the efforts of Holocaust survivors and former slave labourers to secure compensation from I.G.Farben (an industrial conglomerate responsible for much of Germany's WWII re-armament), other Third Reich companies. including Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and BASF, and the German Government.
This dramatic and controversial documentary follows Rudy Kennedy, who was once a victim of the totalitarian labour camps. Fifty years on Rudy traces and confronts the companies that employed stave labourers. His journey is one to honour his murdered family, to amend incorrect historical reporting and to force the companies who had whitewashed their records of association with the Third Reich's "extermination through work" programme to acknowledge their complicity.
I Was a Slave Labourer charts Rudy's development from an individual with private concerns to a civic leader. Rooted firmly in the present and with a focus on the future, Rudy journeys back in history through encounters with past and current administrators of former Third Reich companies and their apologists: historians, liquidators, lawyers. He forges allegiances with an international array of former stave labourers and their representatives, as well as revealing tensions within the survivor community.
This observational film accompanies Rudy through the legal, political and real landscape of post- war Europe. His quest becomes a massive struggle against the conflicting forces of the German government, the US State Department and a host of multinational corporations and banks. And now Rudy Kennedy, once victim of totalitarian labour camps, now, in the the twilight years of his own, is unafraid to take on State power in a fight for justice and for memory.
