Ruotsalainen Jennie Abrahamson julkaisi helmikuussa Gemini Gemini -albumin, järjestyksessään jo neljännen pitkäsoittonsa.
Suomessa Abrahamsonin voi nähdä livenä toukokuussa, jolloin hän esiintyy Peter Gabrielin Back To Front -kiertueella.
Musiikissaan jylhiä maisemia maalaava laulaja-lauluntekijä tuo Viikonloppulistalla esiin omia suosikkiartistejaan lempiharrastuksensa pyöräilyn kautta.
"I love riding the bike, through the city, out to a far away park or the country side. Cycling around during warm summer nights is such a rare sensation - feeling the wind on your skin and in your hair, being free to do anything or go anywhere - the utmost feeling of being alive. This activity requires big songs - songs that contain life itself. They can be fun, bittersweet, beautiful or captivating - but it has to be songs that heighten your senses. For me, all of the songs on my list do that."
1. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers: Even the Losers
"Even the Losers by Tom Petty makes me feel like the world is simple and uncomplicated, just waiting for me! I've always loved Tom Petty, he knows how to write songs that show you a good time. It requires some singing along - with a risk of swallowing some small flies (which is disastrous to me - I'm a vegetarian)."
2. Loney Dear: Airport Surroundings
"Airport Surroundings on the other hand, makes me feel a bit haunted. It's a claustrophobic - but utterly beautiful - song that makes me speed up my pace, I have to cycle to the beat for this one. It's a great song if you want to work out too, it can keep you going forever (when I go for a jog I listen to this song 10-12 times in a row, perfect tempo). Definitely also requires some singing along!"
3. Jonathan Johansson: Stockholm
"Stockholm has some of the same qualities to it - it's a song that's oh so sad, but larger than life. It always brings tears to my eyes and goosebumps. Jonathan's magical voice, the beautiful lyrics (in swedish, sorry!) and the impeccable production will take your summer night bike ride to another level. Magic!"
4. José González: Heartbeats
"I could've just as well used the original version by The Knife for this purpose, but the essence of the song is so beautifully captured by José González. This song sounds like summer forever."
5. Frida Hyvönen: Dirty Dancing
"Dirty Dancing is one of Frida Hyvönen's many master pieces, a song that just builds and builds and builds and the story of the song is so captivating you stop thinking about what you're doing... maybe, all of a sudden, you've passed the place you were going to without noticing."
6. New Order: Regret
"Regret by New Order is the ultimate song to give you "pepp" - as we'd say in Umeå. The guitar riff is so genius - you'd just bike on and on to get to hear that hook again.
7. Prefab Sprout: Bonny
"Bonny by Prefab Sprout is so incredibly eighties, it makes me feel like a child again. And as a child, I think cycling took up like 70% of my time. If you were bored, you went out for a bike ride. Bonny sounds like being a bit bored, and I love it. There's a very extrovert but controlled melancholy to it that's flaunted in a way that is quite rare today."
8. PJ Harvey: England
"England by PJ Harvey takes my breath away. Her voice creeps under my skin and makes me feel very centered in the moment. It's very here-and-now, it sucks you in, you can't flee."
9. Fleetwood Mac: Dreams
"Dreams by Fleetwood Mac is so bitter, so sweet. The song is like a good bike ride, it just goes on and on. Mostly two chords again and again, like you pedal left-right-left-right. Captivating, hypnotic almost."
10. Rickie Lee Jones: On Saturday Afternoons 1963
"This is my favourite Rickie Lee Jones song, and it's a perfect ending track for our bike ride. We can slow down the pace and just enjoy her beautiful voice and the warm night around us."
