STRAIGHT FROM THE STREETS (110 min) Captured amid the indigenous music scene of South Central Los Angeles, the documentary delivers a message that is both uplifting and shocking. 26.9. YEAR OF THE HORSE (107min) Year of the Horse ws filmed in 1996, following Young's contribution of the score for Jarmusch's ethereal western, Dead Man. The documentary is a real rock & roll movie shot in Super-8. 3.10 HANG THE DJ (85 min) Documentary film by Canadian-Italian twin brothers presents a view of the modern dj culture based on the notion of the disc jockey as an artist. The birth of house music in the mid-80's and its consequent spreading throughout the world has elevated dj's to the position of musicians among the traditional instrumentalists. 10.10. THE UNDERGROUND ORCHESTRA (108 min) Exploring the tunnels of Paris Metro, the documentary opens up the world behind the Algerian, Malian or Romanian busker in his grabby jumper. In this film we encounter a large part of the history of the world in the last twenty years, a history of exile, resistance, loneliness and hope. 17.10. PRIVATE CHRONICLES, MONOLOGUE (92 min) From more than five thousand hours of home movies, Vitalij Manskij composed a fictional life story of a Russian young man, who was born in 1961 and died in 1986. 24.10. Told through reminiscence of friends, family, and the actors who worked together with them, as well as home movies, stock footage, and the pictures they made together the documentary will offer a window into the characters of David O. Selznick and Alfred Hitchcock. 7.11. ONE DAY IN THE LIFE OF ANDREI ARSENEVICH (55 min) Chris Marker's portrait about Andrei Tarkovski, the great Russian film director. 14.11. BILLY WILDER - THE HUMAN COMEDY (56 min) Billy Wilder was one of the great Hollywood directors. Sunset Boulevard, Some Like It Hot, Double Indemity and The Apartment are just few titles of his great films. The narrator of this portrait is Walter Matthau. 21.11. CINEMA VERITE (102 min) A feature documentary about the living history and contemporary legacy of the Cinéma Vérité revolution, the most important and defining moment in non-fiction filmmaking. 28.11. DIRECTED BY WILLIAM WYLER (60 min) William Wyler was one of the most commercially successful film directors of the Golden Age of Hollywood. In addition to clips from his most famous films, and interviews with his most famous stars, this unique documentary is based on a long and very entertaining interview that Wyler gave in 1981. Three days after the interview William Wyler died. 5.12. MOTHER DAO, THE TURTLELIKE (90min) A documentary film, recorded between 1912 and 1933 in the Dutch East Indies was found in archives. Th new film which now has been created from those forgotten films aims to show how the Neatherlands administrated its colony at that time. 12.12. FAST, CHEAP AND OUT OF CONTROL (80 min) Errol Morris is one of the most original filmmakers working today. This film may be his most unusual work yet. Morris refers to it as the ultimate low-concept movie - a film that utterly resists the possibility of a one-line summary.The film interweaves the stories of four obsessive men, each driven to create eccentric worlds of their dreams, all involving animals. 19.12. FOUR LITTLE GIRLS (102 min) In 1963 in Birmingham, Alabama, a bomb tore though the basement of a black Baptist church, killing four innocent girls. It was a horrific moment in the life of the community - and a defining moment in the history of America's civil-rights movement. 26.12. MY BEST FRIEND (90 min) Film about the love-hate relationship between Werner Herzog and Klaus Kinski - utterly puzzling to outsiders, about the deep trust between an actor and a director, and their independently and simultaneously hatchet plans to murder one another.
