This practice started in the first days of European occupation in Australia and continued into the 197o's. It was sanctioned by law and not one Aboriginal family escaped its legacy. 20.9. In the documentary the mothers and fathers of the dead soldiers tell abouth their grief and struggle to know the thruth. 27.9 NEW TIMES AT CROSSROAD STREET(80 min) There is a small sidestreet onn the outskirts of Riga, the capital of Latvia. Ten years ago, this street and its residents were the subject of a full-length documetary film. This little sidestreet reflects the historic transformations in Latvia, as well as in all post-communist countries. 11.10. She joined a small but exclusive group of guerilla soldiers that the Sandinista recruited directly from the upper class. Her brother belonged to the elite of the dictator Anastasio Somozals officers. The Sandinists won, and she let her brother be murdered. Many years later his daughter Sofia returns to Nigaragua to find the truth. 25.10 THE MEASURE OF A MAN (52 min) The Measure of A Man is a documentary film of the medical treatment of five impotent men. The most common reasons for impotency include hypertension, diabetes and prolonged smoking. In the documentary, the medical treatment of impotent patients is monitored from beginning to end. WORKING FOR THE ENEMY- HULL (60 min) Puddy, at 35 has never done a day's work in his life. His girlfriend, Robbie wants him to get a steady job as her wage of £50 a week working in a sweat shop isn't enough to pay their methadone, let alone the new clothes she longs for. 8.11 SO IT DOESN'T HURT (ZEBY NIE BOLALO) (47 min) In 1974 Lozinski made a documentary about a young woman who ran a small farm all by herself. 23 years later, the film group returned to the farm. A documentary about choices, freedom, loneliness and happiness - and about the responsibility of the film maker. 15.11. INSHA ALLAH - GOD WILLING (55 min) Insha Allah describes what it is to live as a refugee in Finland at the turn of the millenium. The film follows the colourful life of two young Somalian families for almost a year. The documentary brings out the conflicts between the Somalis and and their neighbours and the Finnish authorities. 22.11 THE KINDNESS OF STRANGERS (104 min) The documentary is an intimate journey into the lives of people confronted with the issue of organ transplantation and donation. In spite of nominal control of the Soviet/Russian authorities, for the last half a century the Shoyna people have been living by self-government principles. "The freedom here is absolute! You can go wherever you want..and do whatever you want..".
