10.6. JUST ANOTHER RIDE (45 min)
The documentary goes through four cases of fatal car accidents caused by reckless driving,. The young survivors tell their tragic tales in their own words. Besides their stories the documentary contains original footage shot by the Finnish Highway Patrol and rescue personnel. 17.6. INSPECTION (46 min) A Kafka-like story about how the Commission in Brussels changed the life of a Finnish farmer. Bureaucracy and form-filling have made the simple work complicated. Nothing is as it used to be. 24.6. HILDA GOES EUROPE (45 min ) A documentary about farmers in northern Finland and Finland's negotiations to join the European Union. Uncertainly throws a shadow over all of them. The government pushes for membership and Ministers placate the farmers with empty promises. 24.6. THE FARMER'S WIFE, part 1 (125 min) Acclaimed filmmaker David Sutherland takes us deep inside the passionate, yet troubled marriage of Juanita and Darrel Buschkoetter, a young couple in rural Nebraska facing the loss of everything they hold dear. Part 1 recounts the moving story of Juanita and Darrel's romantic love affair and begins the journey to the core of their emotional struggles, which pushed their marriage to the brink. 25.6. THE FARMER'S WIFE, part 2 (125 min) Camera focuses on the rhythms of everyday life on the Buschkoetter's farm. In September, an early frost destroys thirty percent of their crop. Darrel must go to work at a nearby farm for seven dollars an hour and does his own farming at night. By Christmas they are dead broke and unsure of their future. 26.6. THE FARMER'S WIFE, part 3 (125 min) In the concluding part Darrel finally harvests the bumber crop he had dreamt about his whole life. But Darrel has to go for work for another farmer to make enough money to feed his family. In December Juanita takes the girls and leaves for a week-it has a deep effect on Darrel. Two months later, the marriage that had seemed almost doomed is miraculously transformed. In the end, through faith, hope, and hard work, the Buschkoetters save their farm and rediscover the love that holds them together. . 8.7. RINGSIDE 52 min 15.7. TUOMITTU 42 min 22.7. CRESCENDO (49 min) 29.7. WRITTEN IN STONE (60 min) Raolf Gothóni, the pianist, and Mark Lubotski, the violinist, lost their wives in a car crash in January 1996. This documentary is about how this event brought Gothóni's life to a standstill, and about how silence turned into music. 5.8. KISANGANI DIARY (50 min) Controversial documentary about the African madness, death and suffering. The film does not give any explanations to this insanity. It evokes feelings of Joseph Conrad's "Heart of Darkness". In fact, is was shot in same locations. 12.8. KATRI'S FIRST LOVE (95 min) 19.8. FUCK YOU, FUCK YOU VERY MUCH (52 min) The documentary tells the story of how a big tabloid newspaper uses people, and because of the money and power they represent - gets away with it. This is the battle between a little girl and the Schibsted owned Aftonbladet (evening newspaper) and it's publisher, Torbjörn Larsson, now head of Swedish TV4.
