The next edition of It's All True – International Documentary Film Festival - the leading event devoted exclusively to the culture of documentary in South America, will happen from March 25th to April 9th, 2009. Around one hundred Brazilian and International documentaries, premières and classics, are screened for ten days simultaneously in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
The Israeli documentary filmmaker Avi Mograbi is coming to Brazil to attend the 14th edition of It’s All True. As a director of markedly autobiographical films that are clearly anti-military, Mograbi will bring his latest film, Z32, which captures the vivid impressions of an Israeli soldier after shooting Palestinian police officers. To preserve the soldier’s identity, Mograbi hides his face behind a digital mask. In this doc, the filmmaker becomes an amateur singer to convey his own reflections.
Winner of the It’s All True international competition in 2002 with his doc August – A Moment Before Eruption, Mograbi combines humor, politics and testimonials and are a crossbreed between the performance and militant documentary.
Mograbi will talk about his filmmaking career in the closing round table of the 9th International Documentary Conference to be held between April 1st and 3rd. The Conference, a great opportunity to bring academics, filmmakers and policymakers around the theme of filmmaking, is also part of It’s All True in São Paulo.
